STAFF BIOINFORMATICS SCIENTIST | Thermo Fisher Scientific – Genetic Sciences Division

April 2024 – March 2026

  • Led cross-functional bioinformatics efforts for a next-generation Microarray instrument, assay, and arrays, collaborating across engineering, software, assay, product, and customer support teams through the full development, verification, and validation cycle.
  • Facilitated recurring cross-functional meetings, coordinated division of work across teams, and tracked project timelines and deliverables to keep product development on schedule.
  • Developed novel pipelines to characterize image quality metrics and array performance metrics in collaboration with engineering and assay teams, supporting instrument and assay analyses across platforms and workflows.
  • Investigated array defects and performance failures arising from assay development, manufacturing, and instrumentation, partnering across teams to identify causes and inform corrective actions.
  • Drove development and implementation of real-time assay result and performance reporting for a new digital PCR (dPCR) instrument, coordinating across divisions to meet launch timelines.

BIOINFORMATICS SCIENTIST III | Thermo Fisher Scientific – Genetic Sciences Division

February 2020 – April 2024

  • Designed, developed, and maintained bioinformatics pipelines and software tools supporting R&D and customer data processing workflows.
    • Implemented and optimized a biobank genotyping pipeline processing 500k+ samples using HPC (SLURM, Python).
    • AWS-based imputation pipeline for GWAS marker selection and coverage calculation (Python, R).
  • Developed a QC database and visualization dashboard for trend monitoring and query simplification (PostgreSQL, PHP, CSS, HTML).
  • Provided direct support to biobanking and VIP customers to analyze data, address complaints, and resolve unexpected genotyping results.

GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCHER | San Diego State University – Laboratory for Pathogenesis of Clinical Drug Resistance & Persistence

December 2017 – December 2019

  • Developed a novel software pipeline and test suite to identify, score, and visualize non-B DNA structures using PacBio SMRT sequencing long reads and kinetic data.
  • Utilized bioinformatics pipelines for assembly and annotation of PacBio SMRT long read sequencing data of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB).
  • Conducted a Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) on Isoniazid and Pyrazinamide resistance in MTB, applying genome-wide association methods, drug susceptibility profiles, and drug mechanisms of action.

WEB DEVELOPER | University of Washington – UW Health Sciences

December 2014 – August 2017

  • Collaborated with researchers, physicians, and stakeholders at UW, UW Medicine, and UW School of Medicine to create and maintain accessible data visualizations and websites across WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and SharePoint (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPER | Wittwer Lab for DNA Analysis – University of Utah Pathology

June 2011 – July 2013

  • Designed, developed, tested, and documented web applications for use in research and clinical environments, collaborating with diverse stakeholders across biochemistry, mechanical engineering, and algorithm development.
