Learning to be a Leader

  • by

Developing my leadership skills has been a very intentional process. I’m still learning! Here is what I have learned in my journey from being a timid new employee to the leader of my company’s Women’s Business Resource Group, a founder and leader of a division wide mentorship program and have gained so much more confidence.

  1. Actively seek out leadership opportunities and be open to opportunities big or small.
  2. Learn to communicate effectively. For me a big part of this was public speaking and conducting of meetings.
  3. Build trust. Get to know your teams and stakeholders on a personal and professional level.
  4. Be willing to learn & have a plan for personal development.
